We have had a second home in the Angel Fire area since 1985. After 20 years of falling in love with the New Mexico mountains, we made the decision to remodel and add on to our existing structure. After personal recommendations we chose to work with Sutton Construction. Within a short amount of time we knew we had made the right decision. They were wonderful to work with. Their employees and sub contractors were exceptional. The construction was of superior quality and delivered in a timely manner. Doing this project long distance was simplified by viewing the progress via pictures on the internet and communication with John several times a week. John is committed to the wishes of his customers. The Suttons seemed like family by the end of the project. When ask if we would work with Sutton Construction again there is not a moment hesitation in saying, “YES!”

Starting from scratch building a home is much easier than taking an older home and remodeling it to make it more up-to-date and suit changing needs. Sutton Construction took our ideas and turned them into a remodeling project that met all of our needs and looked beautiful as well. He knows specialty people in the area too, so we got some special artistic effects from artist, Candie Trujillo and Tree of Life Woodworking. We visited a Sutton spec home hosted Lisa Sutton during the Angel Fire Home Show about two years ago. We were overwhelmed by her warmth and knowledge of the construction. Working with Sutton Construction was a joy for us from Day One. Richard Sutton agreed to meet me at the lot I was looking at to tell me his opinion on how “buildable” it was which was a wonderful help since I was making this purchase decision on my own. Building a house “long distance” could have been a disaster but with John Sutton it was fun and we were able to follow along with the website photos and phone calls so there were no unpleasant surprises. Bonnie Sutton was a tremendous help in the office because she kept track of all the details and helped us order just the right thing. The craftsmanship in the Sutton home is excellent and all the subcontractors we met were such nice people who really cared about their work. This was also the cleanest building site I’ve ever experienced! Everything was done to such a professional level. We love our home and loved working with the Sutton Construction family.

When Barbara and I decided to build our dream house we had several ideas as to how it should be built, but also wanted to maximize the view from our lot in Angel Fire of the Moreno Valley. We presented Sutton Construction with a challenging task as our lot was very steep and narrow. After going over the plans thoroughly with Richard and John we proceeded to build our dream home. The building process went smoothly and many good suggestions were made by them as we went along. The finished product not only fulfills our dream of a retirement house, but has an absolutely fantastic view of the Moreno Valley, Wheeler Peak, and if you have a clear day,  the  mountains of Colorado. Sutton Construction did a great job, were easy to work with and the finished product is fantastic. It's great working with a family that knows the construction business and the valley.

We selected Sutton Construction to build our mountain home in 1991.  They  were recommended by a real estate agent as the best builder in Angel Fire.  He was correct, it was a pleasure working with their team.  Any problems that arose Richard and I solved with ease.  The many extras designed into our home really impressed us and enhanced our home's value.  Every time I'm in the loft bathroom, I thank Richard for designing an interior window that gives us a beautiful view of the valley.
 
This year we again selected the Sutton Team to finish our 1100 sq.ft. basement.  Once again we were not disappointed.  In fact, I think they outdid themselves.  Their design ideas and suggestions made our basement a perfect addition to our home. The shower John designed for our bathroom is a work of art.  Plus, the cost was below the estimates I received from other contractors.  I could not recommend a better construction company to design and build your dream home in this beautiful valley.

We are eager to thank, commend, and recommend Sutton Construction of Angel Fire, New Mexico. Seven years ago we developed a house design and Sutton Construction built our first Angel Fire home. We were very impressed and pleased with Sutton’s quality workmanship and timely performance. The punch list was short. We moved in on time. We enjoyed our new mountain home and it’s wonderful views. As time passed we came to realize that our good design could possibly be made even better. The ‘itch’ to try again took root and began to grow. We puchased another ‘view’ lot. We developed a new and improved design specifically adapted to this lot. [We sold our first house at a tidy profit.] We solicited competitive proposals and bids for construction. Sutton Construction earned the contract. Construction of our second mountain home was a pleasant and gratifying experience. Richard Sutton personally managed the details of the project; he was always available for consultation. He not only resolved design questions as they arose but he also offered many suggestions to further enhance the design. Details like arches, nichos and bancos are in large part attributable to Richard’s proposals and good design sense. The house was completed on time and at a reasonable price. We enjoyed the building process and we are very proud of the result. We are satisfied customers able to enthusiastically recommend Sutton Construction.
